Flaherty & Merrifield are excited to welcome a new attorney to the Firm: former prosecutor and military service member, Cody Sprouse.
Cody grew up in Okaloosa County. After serving for 6 years in the United State Air Force, Cody attended Florida State University School of Law. Once he passed the Bar Exam and became an attorney, Cody started his legal career at the State Attorney’s office in Crestview, Florida.
During Cody’s time as a prosecutor, he prosecuted over 1000 cases of all types, from misdemeanors to serious felonies. He spent his time as a prosecutor learning how to prove a case from the State’s viewpoint, but also where the holes in a case were. This valuable experience gives him a unique perspective on the successful defense of criminal cases.
As Cody himself said, “As a prosecutor, the largest obstacles I had to overcome were constitutional: a person’s right to remain silent, to be free from illegal searches, the right to a fair trial, etc. Allow me the privilege and the honor to be your sword and shield and a champion for your rights.”
