One man was arrested in a two-vehicle Fort Walton Beach that sent one woman by helicopter to the hospital, the Daily News reported on December 5.
According to Fort Walton Beach Police captain William Royal, Fort Walton Beach local Terry Stiny had been driving in the northbound turning lane on Eglin Parkway near the South Avenue intersection at around 12 p.m. when he collided with a silver Chevrolet Silverado headed south.
The passenger in Stiny’s truck, identified as Sheri Hunt, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident and was thrown out of the vehicle when it crashed. She was airlifted via AirHeart to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola for the treatment of serious but not life-threatening injuries.
Stiny was arrested and charged with driving under the influence with great bodily injury.
Royal said the driver of the Silverado was not harmed in the incident.
